Ned Kelly has always been one of Australia's favourite bushrangers. Even the very first feature-length film made in Australia in 1906 (some claim the world) was, "The Story of the Kelly Gang". Over the years we have seen the Rock 'n Roll legend Mick Jagger portray Ned on screen in the 70's, heard Midnight Oil sing "If Ned Kelly Was King" in the 80s, and more recently watched Heath Ledger in a 
Hollywood version of our iron clad bushranger.
The 2000 Sydney Olympic Games had hundreds of Ned Kelly figures in the Opening Ceremony. In 2001, Peter Carey's novel, "True History of the Kelly Gang", won the well respected Booker Prize. Nowadays Ned keeps up with the times by appearing in TV advertisements by jumping his horse over cars and drinking tea from his helmet.
With such Kelly-mania around it was prime time a board game was made about this celebrated Australian icon... and now there is!
THE GAME NED KELLY® is a strategy boardgame for two players based upon the legendary Siege of Glenrowan in 1880, when the Kelly Gang lost their battle against the Victoria and New South Wales Police and the most wanted bushranger in Australia's history was finally surrounded and captured. In this game Ned still has a chance to escape to one of his hideouts before the Police capture him. The rules are straightforward enough to learn within minutes, but the more you understand the vast choice of tactics, the more complex the play becomes. THE GAME NED KELLY® is suitable for all kids 8 - 88 years and is a game that will continue to challenge and be treasured for a lifetime.
There are two versions of this 100% Australian Made game.
The first is a beautiful handcrafted Deluxe game, with each of the 37 playing pieces made in solid pewter and the playing board printed on canvas for an old Australian rustic feel (RRP $189.95). The perfect designer/corporate gift!
The other is the Standard plastic version suitable for the whole family (RRP $39.95). Garanteed high quality and cleverly designed in a canister to make it compact to send or play anywhere!
Each game contains 24 Police, 1 Ned Kelly, 12 Gang Members
clear rules with some history about the Kelly Legend
and a canvas board and bag for the pieces.
